The VEA, the owner of a residential building impose an administrative fine of a minimum of 500 and a maximum of 5,000 euros if the owner sells or rents his house does not have a valid Epc available. Absence of an EPC is not in itself a reason that the property can not be sold or rented, but the owner run the risk of a fine. As of March 12, 2009, the notary also reporting to the VEA in the absence of an EPC and is also a clause in the deed be recorded.
